Ethics Guide for Volunteers

The Center’s ethics guidelines are designed to protect our volunteers and those they serve.

  1. All volunteers must complete the Center's registration process, covering them under the Volunteer Protection Act of 1997.
  2. Center clients are entitled to privacy. Volunteers must keep client information fully confidential. This includes disclosing that any client is served by the Center.
  3. In order to provide clients with efficient, quality service, volunteers must adhere to the responsibilities of their position as laid out in their position description.
  4. Volunteers may not recruit clients for their own business. Volunteers are able to refer clients to Center-approved services only.
  5. Clients cannot accept gifts, tips, payments or other items for services provided. If a client offers a gift, a volunteer must refer the client to the site manager or provide a Center donation envelope.
