Making a Difference 

Your valuable donations enable the Center to provide critical tax and financial services to hard-working, low-income individuals and families—services that benefit both clients and their communities:

  • During 2010, CEP and its volunteers provided free tax preparation services to 30,241 individuals and families in Illinois, generating over $54 million in tax refunds to these clients. By using our services, families saved over $6 million in tax preparation fees.

  • For every dollar we spend providing free tax preparation services, $30 comes back to these taxpayers in the form of tax refunds.

  • For every $60 we spend on tax services in Illinois, a working individual or family gets an average tax refund of $1,792

  • During 2010, we helped nearly 800 students find and qualify for financial aid to make college more affordable.
