We have a variety of volunteer positions that can give you the chance to help make a difference.

Tax Preparer
- This is a seasonal position (January thru April); we accept volunteer applications for this position from October thru January.
- Responsibilities:
- Assist clients with preparing current, prior year and amended federal and state income tax returns.
- Provide counseling to clients on tax law and tax credits, W-4 forms and W-5 forms.
- Time commitment: At minimum, four hours/week for nine weeks during tax season (January through April)
- Training: new volunteers – a minimum of nine hours; returning volunteers – a minimum of three hours. Training is held in January prior to start of tax season.
- Requirement: Volunteers must attend training and pass a certification test.
- Skills & Qualifications: Computer proficiency, dependable, and strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Tax Site Assistant
- This is a seasonal position (January thru April); we accept volunteer applications for this position from October thru January.
- Responsibilities:
- Assist the sites with non-tax oriented volunteer activities, such as translating, greeting, client screening, photocopying, or other administrative duties.
- Site managers at the tax sites will determine specific duties of each volunteer.
- Time commitment: At minimum, four hours/week for nine weeks during tax season (January through April)
- Training: On-the-job training or on-site orientation where available
- Skills & Qualifications: Dependable, strong interpersonal and communication skills, and bilingual volunteers are a plus.

Tax Representative
- This is a year-round position; we accept volunteer applications for this position throughout the year.
- Responsibilities:
- Represent low-income clients on federal and state income tax issues.
- Work on cases and meet with clients the Center has pre-screened by attending Tax Help Days, held on select Saturdays. Telecommuting is available.
- Time commitment: Flexible
- Training: On-the-job training and special training sessions as needed
- Skills & Qualifications: Some familiarity with tax law or a willingness to learn. CPAs, attorneys and Enrolled Agents often fit well in this position.
