The Child Care Business

Operating a home-based child care business is more than babysitting. It involves running a business. To sustain and grow their business, home-based child care providers need to understand complex self-employment tax laws and carefully record income and expenses.

Since 1997, with support from the Illinois Department of Human Services, the Center has provided thousands of home-based child care providers with the necessary tools and training needed to run successful home-based child care businesses.
