Training for Child Care Providers

Expanding Your Business Knowledge

The Center for Economic Progress provides training classes on tax rules and requirements for persons operating a home-based child care operation.

Offered year-round in English and Spanish, the classes are free to licensed and license-exempt home-based child care providers in communities throughout Chicago and Illinois. Anyone considering becoming a home-based child care provider is also welcome.

Training classes provide simple, practical information on tax rules and requirements, forms, recordkeeping and how to access available resources. There are three levels of training classes available.

Basic

Intermediate

  • Contracts
  • Insurance
  • Record-keeping software

Advanced

  • Depreciation
  • Hiring employees
  • Planning for Tax Time (don’t get audited)
  • Be more consistent in strategies

Attending training classes can help you:

  • Gain expert knowledge regarding important aspects of running a successful business.
  • Meet and network with other home-based child care providers and sharing strategies, information, tips and success stories.
