Online Training

The 2019 tax season online training is available now at economicprogress.exceedlms.com/student/plan. Follow these steps before your first volunteer shift:

Volunteer Tax Preparers:

  1. Complete your online training lessons up through the What's New? lesson.
    • Don't forget to print your certificates for Standards of Conduct, and Intake, Interview & Quality Review IRS tests. When you complete these tests, the certificate will pop up with a "Print" button.
    • Did you forget to print? No problem, you can either: take a screenshot to show your Site Manager or log in to your training account at your tax site, click on your training, and show your completed tests to your Site Manager.
  2. If you're a new volunteer tax preparer, you will need to attend a Basic Tax Prep 3 (BTP3) class. You will get access to the classes at the end of the What's New? lesson, but if you'd like to plan ahead, take a look at the list of remaining BTP3 classes. Returning tax preparer volunteers do not need to attend BTP3.
  3. Complete either the Basic or Advanced Certification Test at the end of the online training.
    • There are study guides available in the Quick References area of the Volunteer Resource Hub main page.
    • You will need access to the Taxwise Online Training Lab to complete the practice scenarios. If you are a new volunteer, you will get access in your BTP3 class. If you are a returning tax preparer, you received an email in December with your login information. If you are missing your login information, email volunteer@economicprogress.org
    • Print your certificate to bring with you to your first shift.
  4. Register for your volunteer shifts.
  5. Print your name badge. It's best to print this at home to save the site printer for returns, but if you don't have a printer, you are welcome to print out your badge at the site. Just fill out this form and your name badge will be emailed to you.
  6. Volunteer! Don't forget to bring your certificates and name badge (if you are able to).
